Best of Jewelry Stringing

Hi all!

I just received my copy of Best of Jewelry Stringing magazine in which I have a small part.  It's so nice to see Stringing again.  I love looking at all the beautiful designs for inspiration.  They always have the most interesting designs with innovative uses of components.  As a jewelry designer, it's always been one of my favorites and I was sad to see it go earlier this year.

Get your copy of the Best of Jewelry Stringing today and maybe they'll bring the magazine back!  (I can always hope, right?)

These are the earrings they chose for the magazine.

Also, if you like the style of Stringing, there are some designs included in Interweave's bead stitching magazine, Beadwork, under Fast and Fabulous.

Happy Creating!

PS  My earrings were featured in the Beading Daily blog post.  Thanks, Debbie!

Fall Jewelry Designs

Hi everyone,

I thrilled to announce that I have a couple of jewelry designs in the fall issues of magazines.

The first is a necklace in a vintage style in the popular rose gold metal color .  You can find this necklace in Craft Ideas.

Here's my necklace:
Layered Rose Gold Necklace
Elegant, with subtle, soft colors, this necklace would flatter everyone and go with all the fall hues.

The second design is in the fall issue of Stringing magazine.

Here's the bracelet:

As you can see, I like to create in different styles.  I think this bracelet would be great with jeans of a casual fall outfit.  Which style do you like best?  Which would you wear?

Hope you are taking time to be creative!  Look for these magazines at your local craft store or get the e-version online.

Beading on a Shoestring

Hi Friends!

The Winter 2016 issue of Stringing is out!  Look for my necklace in the Beading on a Shoestring page!  It's the first time I've been featured on that page, so I'm pretty excited!

Here's my necklace-

I really like combining metal beads, gemstones and ceramic like this and hope to do more.  What do you think?

Be sure to check out the new issue of Stringing; as usual, it's packed with lots of great ideas!  And, if you like to bead, the new submission guidelines are out for Summer 2016 plus a couple of other design calls for special issues.

Happy beading!

Lichen Links

Hello Creative Friends!

Today I'm excited to share my latest published design in Stringing magazine.  The Spring 2014 issue is just out! They have a section called "Spring Greens" and the necklace I created with silver links and lemon chrysoprase beads was featured in it.  I scanned the page because they did such a lovely job of presenting it.

There's lots of other wonderful designs to try with other sections on mixed beads (Bead Soup), using one color (Monochromatic Muse) and incorporating fiber (Strike a Cord) in your designs.  There's also a nice tutorial page on making tassels, which are so popular now.

The latest guidelines for submitting designs to the magazine are out now.  They are looking for fall designs.  So, if you'd like to try your hand at their design call, check out their guidelines here.  I find that trying to create for a design call is a good way to stretch creatively and push myself to meet a deadline.  It both keeps me on track and it makes me think outside my creative box!  So, if you're up for a challenge, you should try it!

If you're looking for some great ideas on weaving, spinning, knitting and quilting (or beading), check out the deals from Interweave by clicking on the banner at the top of this post.  (I'm an affiliate and I'll get a few cents if you buy something!)

Happy Creating in this wintry weather!

October Sunset

Hi Everyone!
It's the middle of summer, but the fall magazines are already coming out.  And, I'm working on designs for next spring!  It's no wonder I don't know what month it is!  That's my excuse anyway!

Here's a design of mine appearing in the fall issue of Jewelry Stringing.  The magazine is packed with wonderful designs to coordinate with your fall outfits.  My design is made with glass beads that are made to look like stones with all sorts of lovely colors swirled through them.  You can find them at your local JoAnn's.

Enjoy the rest of your summer while creating jewelry for fall!

Happy Crafting!

Fall Issue of Stringing Magazine

Hi Crafters!

I love the colors of fall.  Although, according to the color gurus, I am a "winter", I love to work in autumn's warm, golden colors.  Some of my favorite necklaces and earrings are combinations of reddish oranges, golden browns and buttery yellows.

Here's one in shades of gold that I called "Amber Opulence".  I really enjoyed working with the colors in this one.  I usually don't name my pieces so extravagantly when I send them out for possible publication, but this one turned out so rich and lush-looking that I decided to go for it.  Another thing that I like to do in my designing is combine textures and this necklace combines fire-polished AB glass beads, pearls and ribbed metal beads along with two different kinds of chain for a lot of interest and contrast.

The editors at Stringing put this necklace in their "technique focus" on forming wrapped loops.  That could be because you have to make 82 of them for this necklace!

I hope you'll consider giving this necklace a try.  It would work well in different colors of glass beads and pearls, and you could change the metal color as well.  Use it as a jumping off point to create your own unique creation!  And, if you don't like this necklace, this fall's Stringing issue has 69 other designs for you to try!

Happy beading!

emerald, meet copper

Happy Holidays!

I have been anxiously awaiting a package today. And, it finally arrived--my copy of the Winter 2010 issue of Stringing magazine! It's loaded with wonderful designs for gifts or wearing to holiday parties along with lots of info on the latest in beading trends, as usual. And...I have a necklace design published in it! It's a mix of brushed copper beads and three different types and shapes of glass beads--clear green ovals, patterned rounds and bumpy mottled green pearls. I love to mix up textures and shapes in a design. It makes it so much more interesting!

Here's the page in the magazine. I'm in great company here--Denise Yezbak Moore's fleurs nouveau necklace is beside mine. Visit her blog to see more of her amazing jewelry.
This is an exciting way to end the year for me. Here's wishing you all good things and the best in the New Year!
And, of course,
Happy Crafting!
