Spa Day - April Pretty Palettes

The inspiration for this month is a cool, calm palette to go with the Spa Day theme.  The colors are muted and soft.



Molly Schaller picked some lovely beads from these colors.


I love natural beads whether gemstones like the amazonite here or wood or shell.  And, those painted agate pendants are calling loudly to me!  Halcraft's new diffuser pendants will add a soothing aroma to any creation.

Unfortunately, I waited too long to order some of these beads, and they were sold out.  So, I used some of the stash that I already had.

Here's what I created:
Spa Day Necklace
I used faceted, round and stick amazonite beads, aqua agate rounds, some white star-shaped lava beads, pale pink shell rounds and some howlite in different sizes.  To make the pendant, I drilled a piece of driftwood and hung a shell from it.  The beads are strung on white waxed linen with brushed silver chain and clasp.  It's a very relaxing color palette - perfect for a day at the the spa or the beach!

Beaded Crosses

Hi Crafters! Welcome to the first Monday of April and the Designer Crafts Connection Blog Hop.  I hope you'll take the time to hop around the blogs using the big blue button on the left of my entry.  After reading mine, of course! This time in honor of Easter Week, I have designed Beaded Crosses and a step-by-step tutorial for them.  These crosses are made with pressed glass beads (4mm and 6mm) and 28-gauge wire.  They are about 3 inches long. But, this is a versatile design.  You can also use heavier (22-gauge) craft wire and acrylic beads.  This one is about 4 1/2 inches long. So, the whole family can participate!  You could go smaller and create one with seed beads on thread.  Or, you can go bigger and use larger acrylic beads or large wood beads with plastic lacing or yarn.  The smaller ones look nice tied onto a ribbon and used as a bookmark.  Or, you can hang them in the window for a suncatcher. Etchall/Stencil Girl Blog Hop

Hi Everyone! Today I'm participating in a blog hop using etchall® products and a Stencil Girl stencil. Here's the stencil that I chose from Stencil Girl.  It's Birds & Bunnies .  It's perfect for spring and Easter. Since these stencils don't have an adhesive backing, you have to apply one.  Etchall® stencil spray works great for this. Follow the directions on the spray to create the adhesive backing, then adhere it to the surface.  I decided to create a stenciled glass jar that I can use to hold flowers, candies or a candle. I applied the stencil spray rather heavily to insure a good seal, then I smoothed the stencil down with the squeegee.  This stencil has finely cut pieces that have to be adhered to give the detail. Coffee Filter Angel

Hello and Happy New Year! I love angels and every once in awhile, I just have to create one.  (See my Pinterest board for some of the other angels I've created.) Now is the perfect season to create one - or a bunch - and I've had this idea "brewing" in my mind for awhile!  (I know, it's a bad pun!) For this craft, you will need a foam cone (9"), a foam ball (2") and fluted coffee filters.  You can use unbleached filters like I did or white ones if you like. Materials for Angel You will also need some craft basics - craft or paper glue, toothpicks and scissors.  You can also use sequin pins or straight pins to attach the coffee filters.  And, of course, add embellishments of your choice. To start, cut into a coffee filter and cut around the center.  Wrap the ruffle around the base of the cone.
